Manuel Aires Mateus

Born in Lisbon, 1963.

Manuel Aires de Mateus, graduated in Architecture at the Technical University of Lisbon, in 1986. While still a student, he worked closely with Architect Gonçalo Byrne and later with his brother, Architect Francisco Aires de Mateus.
His career is filled with other sound collaborations and several prestigious international awards such as 1st place at the Architécti / Arkial Prize, Lisbon (2000), 1st place at the II Ibero-American Architecture Biennial in Mexico City (2001), 1st place at the Luigi Cosenza Awards (2001) in Naples, 1st place at the Fad d'Arquitectura I Interiorisme Awards (2001) in Barcelona and also in Barcelona, ​​1st place at the Fad d'Arquitectura I Ephemeral Awards (2010).
He has participated in numerous conferences and seminars throughout the Americas, Europe and Japan. His career is still heavily guided by academic education: he has taught in Switzerland, Lithuania, Slovenia and the US and currently teaches in Portugal.
